Renewing for Impact
Jesus’ final words on earth were bold and clear, not merely a suggestion but a command: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). He called the disciples to reach “all people groups”—including the distinct cultural and socioeconomic communities within our own cities. Our churches must be renewed to fulfill his mandate! Along the life cycle of our congregations we must be open to the Holy Spirit to change, grow, and respond to the ever-changing situations we find ourselves in. CCK is dedicated to help churches in flux to rediscover their strategic focus and become fruitful in making disciples where God has placed them, starting with our own backyards.
is Your Church presently in Transition?
A Re-missioned Church Plant is a church that recognizes it is either “at-risk” or perhaps “at a significant milestone” and is willing to undergo a significant reassessment of its current status, practices, and vision. This willingness stems from a desire to consider realigning with the mission and values of the Churches of Christ the King (CCK) movement. Essentially, it’s a church that chooses to be “re-planted” with a renewed focus and purpose within the CCK network.
A Re-missioned Church Plant should never see itself as an admission of failure, but more about recognizing the need for change and embracing the opportunity for being revitalized by the Story of God. Such a plant is a courageous step towards a brighter future, guided by the support and resources of the CCK network.
The term “at-risk” or “at a significant milestone” can encompass a variety of situations, including:
Declining Membership
A consistent downward trend in attendance and active participation.
Financial Strain
Difficulty meeting financial obligations and sustaining ministry programs.
Missional Drift
A sense of stagnation and uncertainty about the church’s future direction.
Internal Conflict
Persistent disagreements and divisions within the congregation.
Who Can Be A Re-missioned Church Plant?
Several types of churches can qualify as a Re-missioned Church Plant within the CCK network:
• Independent Churches: Churches that are not currently affiliated with any denomination or network but are seeking connection and support.
• Denominationally-affiliated Churches that need greater connection for mission and belonging: Churches that are part of a denomination but feel disconnected or unsupported and are seeking a new home within CCK.
• Existing Unaligned Church Plants: Church plants that are struggling to gain traction and are looking for guidance and resources to help them thrive.
• Legacy Churches: Churches with a long history that are facing decline and are seeking to reinvent themselves for a new generation.
• Transitioning Multi-Site Campuses: Campuses of larger churches that are seeking greater autonomy and a more focused mission.
• Mergers of congregations without a final resting place: Two or more smaller churches that are seeking to combine their resources and efforts to create a stronger, more sustainable ministry.
The key requirement is a willingness to embrace the CCK vision and values and to actively participate in the Re-missioning process.
Six Elements of a CCK Re-missioned Church Plant Effort
The Re-missioned Church Plant process within CCK involves several key elements:
Assessment and Discernment
A thorough evaluation of the church’s current situation, including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This involves honest conversations, data analysis, and prayerful discernment to identify the root causes of the church’s challenges.
Vision Casting
Developing a clear and compelling vision for the future of the church, aligned with the CCK mission and values. This involves engaging the congregation in a collaborative process to create a shared sense of purpose and direction.
Leadership Development
Identifying and equipping leaders who can champion the Re-missioning process and guide the church towards its new vision. This may involve training, mentoring, and empowering existing leaders, as well as identifying and developing new leaders within the congregation.

Strategic Planning
Creating a detailed plan of action to achieve the church’s vision, including specific goals, timelines, and resources. This involves establishing clear direction with projects that prioritize initiatives, allocate resources effectively, and establish clear accountability measures.
Community Engagement
A willingness to build relationships with the surrounding community and to identify opportunities to serve and make a positive impact. This involves understanding the needs of the community, researching relevant programs and services, and showing a willingness to actively engage with local organizations and leaders.
Ready to Integrate within CCK
A gameplan to integrate the church into the CCK network, participating in collaborative initiatives, and sharing resources and best practices. This may involve attending CCK events, connecting with other CCK churches, and contributing to the overall mission of the network.
Why Re-missioned Church Plants Help CCK Grow and Succeed
Re-missioned Church Plants are a vital component of the CCK network’s growth and success for several reasons:
Expanded Reach
Re-missioned Church Plants allow CCK to establish a presence in new communities and reach people who might not otherwise be exposed to the CCK message. This expands the network’s overall reach and impact.

Resource Supply
Instead of starting from scratch, Re-missioned Church Plants leverage CCK experience and existing resources, strategies, processes, and certifications. This allows CCK to allocate resources more efficiently and maximize its impact.
Diverse Perspectives
Re-missioned Church Plants bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the CCK network, enriching the overall community and fostering innovation. This diversity strengthens the network’s ability to adapt to changing circumstances and meet the needs of a diverse population.
